Community Profile of Sargent, Nebraska


Sargent, Nebraska, population of 649, is a small community located on the banks of the Middle Loup River in Central Nebraska. Sargent lays just south of the Sandhills which sport abundant water, a large variety of wildlife, and beautiful scenery. This region is known for its outdoor activities, and several hunting lodges are located in the area. Sargent's economy is based primarily on agriculture with small levels of industry.


The City of Sargent has recently completed upgrades to its electrical distribution system and sewer system, and we are currently working toward a new community center. In addition, we have excellent cell-phone coverage and our local telephone company provides DSL Internet access. LOCATION
Situated on U.S. Hwy 183, the community is about halfway between Ansley to the south, and Taylor or Burwell to the north. It is a popular stopping place for people going to the Calamus Reservoir near Burwell.
